March 9, 2006
On February 20, 2006, Louis R. Chênevert, President of Pratt & Whitney, announced that Matthew F. Bromberg will lead P&W's new Global Material Solutions business as its Vice President and General Manager. Bromberg was previously Vice President for Pratt & Whitney strategy and development. He graduated in 2000 from MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing program, which is sponsored jointly by MIT Sloan School of Management and School of Engineering.
"Matthew has a broad understanding of Pratt & Whitney's services growth strategies," said Chênevert. "His experience at Pratt and his focus on emerging markets uniquely qualify him to lead this significant new business. Matthew will continue to report directly to me in this important position."
The Wall Street Journal has reported that with the establishment of this unit, Pratt & Whitney Global Material Solutions becomes the first major engine maker to produce parts for a competitor's jet engine. Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company (NYSE:UTX), is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
