MIT's Leaders for Manufacturing program offers future leaders of diverse global operations the opportunity to earn master's degrees in both management and engineering in only two years. LFM broadens managerial and technical expertise, emphasizing systems thinking, creativity, and teamwork. The dual degree program prepares graduates to solve significant problems in global manufacturing and operations companies.

The LFM program seeks applicants whose goals are closely aligned with the program's offerings. LFM students and graduates:

  • Integrate leadership, managerial, and technical knowledge
  • Work cooperatively to compete effectively
  • Solve real-world problems, hands on, with a variety of companies
  • Transform operations at team, organizational, and societal levels
  • Actively participate in three lifelong learning communities - LFM, MIT Sloan School of Management, and MIT School of Engineering

LFM enrolls 45 to 50 students each year. Each candidate for the LFM program must apply online by the third Monday in December (December 15, 2008) through the MIT Sloan School of Management or the MIT School of Engineering (not both).
